Before joining PepsiCo, Shan held product management positions in the health care field, first with FMC Corporation in the research and diagnostic products arena, then with Schering-Plough Corporation in pharmaceutical products. From Schering-Plough, she joined PepsiCo as their first Manager, Health Care Cost Containment.
